The issue came to light when a Reddit user reported that deleted photos reappeared on an iPad that had been factory reset and sold. After the buyer updated the iPad to iPadOS 17.5, the old photos resurfaced. Numerous other users have since reported similar experiences.

This bug raises serious privacy concerns, especially for users who have sold or given away their devices. Apple has yet to acknowledge the issue or provide a solution, causing growing anxiety among users.
