Red Magic 9S Pro Gaming Phone to Feature Overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
The upcoming Red Magic 9S Pro gaming smartphone has been spotted on the Geekbench 6 benchmarking database, and as expected, it packs Qualcomm's latest flagship processor. However, this isn't just any Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – it's a special, overclocked version with even more power.
According to the benchmark data, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 inside the Red Magic 9S Pro can reach clock speeds of up to 3.4 GHz. Previously, this boosted version of the chipset was exclusive to Samsung's Galaxy S24 series under the moniker "Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy." Other smartphones had to settle for a capped 3.3 GHz frequency.
A similar situation occurred last year when the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 initially remained exclusive to Samsung devices for six months before appearing in phones from other manufacturers. It seems likely that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will follow the same trajectory.
It remains to be seen how the Red Magic 9S Pro will leverage this extra horsepower. We'll find out more at the official announcement, scheduled for July 3rd.
