Electric Hypercar Owl SP600 Smashes World Speed Record [VIDEO]
The Aspark Owl SP600, an electric hypercar from Japanese company Aspark, has claimed the title of the world's fastest electric vehicle. It surpasses the previous record holder, the Rimac Nevera, by a significant 26.7 km/h, achieving an astounding top speed of 438.7 km/h.
A Decade in the Making
Founded in 2005, Aspark dedicated over a decade to developing this hypercar. The Aspark Owl debuted as a prototype at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. In 2018, it underwent its first track test, showcasing its blistering acceleration by going from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 1.89 seconds.
Evolving Powerhouse
By 2019, the Aspark Owl boasted a 1480 kW engine with a torque of 2000 Nm. Fast forward to 2024, and the company further refined the hypercar's configuration. The production model now packs a punch with four motors generating a combined output of 1456 kW (equivalent to 1953 hp). This translates to a staggering 4600 Nm of torque to each rear wheel and 2120 Nm to each front wheel.
Performance and Range
These impressive specs allow the Aspark Owl to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 1.78 seconds. A 69 kWh lithium-ion battery provides the hypercar with a range of up to 400 km. The battery also supports fast charging.
