AMD Rumored to Release "$100" Ryzen Processors for AM5 Socket

According to information from the Bits and Chips portal, AMD is preparing to update its series of budget desktop processors for the first time in several years. In addition to the expected price, the source also reported the alleged names and architectural features of the upcoming chips.

The insider information points to a new Athlon or Ryzen 3 model (it is possible that two SKUs will be released). The chips, based on the Zen 4 microarchitecture, are expected to be manufactured using TSMC's 7nm process technology and will formally be part of the "7000" series. The retail price of the chips is reported to be no more than $100.

The last full-fledged representatives of the desktop Ryzen 3 series (not counting the rebranding of mobile versions) in the company's portfolio were the Ryzen 3000 family models, introduced in 2020. The Athlon line has also not received updates outside the mobile segment for a long time. AMD itself has not yet announced the new CPUs.
