The release of Asus Strix Point laptops in China has given us the first glimpse at the Radeon 880M's capabilities. Asus claims that this new integrated GPU, featured in the Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, delivers a 15% performance improvement in 3DMark Time Spy compared to the Radeon 780M, which utilizes the older RDNA 3 architecture.

While both GPUs share the same 12 CU core count, the architectural advancements in RDNA 3.5 seem to be the driving force behind this performance gain. Impressively, Asus also states that the Radeon 880M is only 23% slower than a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 laptop GPU with a 40W power limit.

This level of performance, according to Asus, makes their ZenBook S16 and other upcoming Ryzen AI 9 365-powered laptops capable of running many AAA games smoothly. The company highlights that AMD's RDNA 3.5 architecture is designed for improved performance in low-power devices. This suggests we may see the Radeon 880M appear in other form factors like mini PCs, potentially offering impressive gaming experiences in compact packages.
