Leaked pricing suggests AMD Ryzen 9000 Zen 5 CPUs could be significantly cheaper than their predecessors. Are Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs in trouble?

AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs Rumored to be Remarkably Cheaper Than Zen 4

Leaked prices suggest that AMD's upcoming Ryzen 9000 Zen 5 desktop processors could be significantly more affordable than their Zen 4 predecessors, with the top-tier models potentially launching at $150 less.

AMD Ryzen 9000

The rumored pricing, which surfaced on Anandtech Forums and was later reported by Wccftech, is as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X: $499
  • AMD Ryzen 9 9900X: $399
  • AMD Ryzen 7 9700X: $299
  • AMD Ryzen 5 9600X: $229

If these prices hold true, the Ryzen 9 9950X and 9900X will be a significant $150 cheaper than the Ryzen 9 7950X and 7900X, respectively. The Ryzen 7 9700X could see a $100 price reduction, while the Ryzen 5 9600X might launch at $70 less than its predecessor.

This aggressive pricing strategy could give AMD a considerable edge over Intel's upcoming Arrow Lake CPUs. It also makes the non-X3D Zen 4 SKUs more appealing compared to their X3D counterparts, expected to launch in October alongside new X870 motherboards.

However, it's essential to remember that these are just rumors for now. Pricing can change before launch, so we'll have to wait for official confirmation from AMD. Luckily, the wait won't be long, as AMD has confirmed a July 31st launch date for the Ryzen 9 9950X, 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X.
