Cubot Max 5: Budget Gaming Phone Boasts Fast Display and 5G
Cubot is entering the gaming smartphone market with the Cubot Max 5, aiming to deliver solid performance at an affordable price.
Instead of a Qualcomm processor, the Max 5 packs MediaTek's Dimensity 8200 SoC. This chip features Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 3.1 GHz and a Mali-G610 GPU, promising smooth handling of demanding games. 5G connectivity is also onboard thanks to the integrated cellular modem.
Key Specs:
- Display: 6.95-inch with a 144Hz refresh rate
- Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8200
- RAM: Up to 24GB (unclear if this includes virtual RAM)
- Storage: Up to 256GB
- Battery: 5,100mAh with 33W charging
- Main Camera: 100MP
- Other Cameras: 5MP macro lens, 32MP front-facing camera
Cubot claims the Max 5 can be configured with up to 24GB of RAM, but it's unclear whether this figure includes virtual RAM. The large 6.95-inch display with its 144Hz refresh rate should provide a fluid gaming experience, assuming the Dimensity 8200 can keep up.
The Cubot Max 5 is scheduled for a global release on July 22nd.
