Geekom AX7 Pro Launches as Powerful Mini PC with AMD Ryzen 9
Geekom has introduced the AX7 Pro, a new mini PC that appears to be a variant of the recently released AX8 Pro. While the AX8 Pro features the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, the AX7 Pro is equipped with the Ryzen 9 7940HS.
Performance and Graphics
Both processors deliver comparable performance, but the Ryzen 9 8945HS has a more powerful XDNA NPU, making it better-suited for AI tasks. Nevertheless, thanks to the integrated AMD Radeon 780M iGPU in the Ryzen 9 7940HS, the Geekom AX7 Pro can smoothly handle most games at low to medium settings.
Connectivity and Expansion
The mini PC boasts a 40 Gbps USB4 port, allowing for eGPU connectivity to enhance gaming performance. However, an OCuLink port with its 64 Gbps bandwidth would have been a superior choice for external GPU setups.
In addition to USB4, the Geekom AX7 Pro offers three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, one USB 2.0, one 2.5 Ethernet, and one HDMI 2.0 port. With support for video output to four displays simultaneously, it's well-suited for multi-monitor setups.
The AX7 Pro also includes two DDR5 slots accommodating up to 64 GB of RAM and a PCIe 4.0 slot for up to a 2 TB SSD.
Other Features and Availability
Additional features include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, an IceBlast cooling system, and Windows 11 Pro. While global availability is pending, the 32 GB RAM and 1 TB storage variant is expected to retail for around €1,008 (approximately $1,093).
For a more affordable alternative, consider the Minisforum UM790 Pro, with a barebone variant currently priced at $431.92 on Amazon.
