HP Claims Fastest AI Laptop Crown with OmniBook Ultra
In a bold move, HP has unveiled the OmniBook Ultra, a laptop touted as the world's fastest AI-powered personal computer. This claim hinges on the inclusion of AMD's Strix series processors, bolstered by a potent NPU designed for efficient AI processing.
The OmniBook Ultra boasts a 14-inch IPS display with a 2240x1400 resolution and a peak brightness of 300 nits. Under the hood, it's powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processors, featuring integrated AMD Radeon 800M graphics and a dedicated NPU capable of up to 50 TOPS of performance. HP even claims to have squeezed out an additional 5 TOPS during internal testing.
HP emphasizes the NPU's superiority over competitors, asserting a 45% performance advantage over Apple's M4 chip and nearly double the processing power of the M3. These impressive figures are attributed to the close collaboration between HP and AMD.
Beyond raw processing power, the OmniBook Ultra packs a 9-megapixel AI-enhanced webcam, complete with support for Poly Camera Pro and Windows Studio effects. Security is addressed through HP's commercial-grade Wolf Security suite, and connectivity is ensured with a Thunderbolt 4 port. The laptop is also slated to receive Microsoft Copilot+ PC certification in the future.
The HP OmniBook Ultra is expected to hit shelves in early August with a starting price of $1450.
