Xbox Series Sales Halted in Some Regions, Future Uncertain
Reports suggest Microsoft will stop selling Xbox Series consoles in several countries, opting to focus on Game Pass, cloud gaming, and controllers ins
Things are looking grim for the Xbox Series in some parts of the world. Sales figures for the Xbox Series are reportedly so dismal in certain regions that Microsoft is considering pulling the plug on further investment in distribution and advertising. This comes as a blow, especially considering the consoles are already being sold at a loss. According to sources at The Verge, Microsoft is preparing to discontinue sales of the Xbox Series in several European countries, as well as in Africa and the Middle East. The company will instead shift its focus to more promising avenues like Game Pass, cloud gaming, PC gaming, and Xbox controllers. This strategic shift makes sense given Microsoft's recent launch of Xbox TV on Amazon Fire TV, a clear indicator of the company's commitment to cloud gaming solutions that don't require dedicated hardware. It seems this is the direction Microsoft plans to expand on moving forward.
