Minisforum Releases Mini-PC With Upgradable CPU
Minisforum has just launched its latest compact computer, the MS-A1, with a unique feature: a replaceable CPU. Thanks to its motherboard featuring a standard AM5 socket, users can easily upgrade the processor. The company has revealed all the specs and pricing for its new mini-PC.
Powerful Processor Options:
The Minisforum MS-A1 supports Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series CPUs, including powerful models like the Ryzen 9 7900X and 7950X. However, using the latter will limit the TDP to 100W, potentially impacting their full performance potential. A compact dual-fan cooler keeps the system from overheating.
Plenty of Memory and Storage:
The motherboard boasts two DDR5-5200 RAM slots (supporting up to 96GB), three M.2 connectors (two PCIe 4.0 x4 and one PCIe 3.0 x4), and a U.2 connector. Additionally, an expansion slot allows for an extra M.2 drive, bringing the total potential storage capacity to a whopping 27TB.
Connectivity Options:
The MS-A1 is no slouch when it comes to connectivity. It features five USB Type-A ports, one OCuLink for an external graphics card, two Ethernet ports (2.5 Gbps), one HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 2.0, and one USB 4 Type-C port.
Pricing and Availability:
The barebone version of the MS-A1 is priced at $259 in the US. For those who prefer a complete system, a configuration with a Ryzen 7 8700G processor, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD will set you back $729.
