Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is Shutting Down Permanently

It seems the news about NetherRealm shutting down its mobile division wasn't a hoax after all. Today, it was announced that Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will be shutting down just a year after its launch.

The closure was announced on social media.

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will officially shut down on October 21, 2024. The game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on July 22, 2024, and in-app purchases will be disabled on August 23, 2024. Players can continue to enjoy the game until October 21, 2024.

"It was an honor to create this project for our community," the developers stated.

The reason for the closure hasn't been officially disclosed. However, it's likely due to the project not meeting Warner Bros.' financial expectations. As a reminder, the publisher previously announced its decision to completely dissolve NetherRealm's mobile division.
