Motorola Edge 50: Thinnest MIL-STD-810H Certified Smartphone Coming Soon

Motorola has announced the release date for its new smartphone, the Edge 50, and teased the device with a focus on its key feature: it will be the thinnest smartphone to boast MIL-STD-810H certification. Additionally, a full list of the phone's specifications has surfaced online.

Launching on August 1st, the Motorola Edge 50, as per the teaser, will be certified with the MIL-STD-810H standard for durability. The company also highlighted IP68 water resistance, a curved 1.5K display, and a Sony LYT-700C camera with AI capabilities.

Unofficial information suggests the Edge 50 will feature a 6.7-inch pOLED display with an under-display fingerprint scanner and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition processor with a vapor chamber cooling system. It is rumored to have 256GB of storage and a 5000mAh battery with support for 68W wired and 15W wireless charging.

The camera system is said to include a 50MP optically stabilized main camera, a 13MP ultrawide with macro mode, and a 10MP telephoto lens. The smartphone should run Android 14 out of the box, with a guaranteed update period of 3 years of OS updates and an additional year of security patches.
