Samsung's new foldable phones are gaining popularity in Russia, analysts say
According to MTS, a Russian mobile operator, pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 smartphones between July 10th and 23rd have been remarkably strong. In fact, the demand for these new devices is a staggering 61% higher than it was for their predecessors during the same period last year.
Grey appears to be the color of choice for the Galaxy Z Fold6, with 50% of pre-orders opting for this sleek shade. Additionally, the 1TB storage configuration proved popular, accounting for 40% of pre-orders. As for the Galaxy Z Flip6, grey once again dominated with 32% of pre-orders, while the 256GB storage option was favored by 54% of customers.
"We've witnessed an incredibly warm reception from our customers towards Samsung's latest offerings," said Andrey Gubanov, CEO of MTS Retail. "This enthusiasm is primarily attributed to the artificial intelligence features, which are increasingly becoming a crucial factor in smartphone purchasing decisions. Alongside the interest in smartphones, we've also observed a surge in demand for smartwatches and headphones. We anticipate that each of these new releases will ascend to a leading position within their respective segments."
MTS also revealed that the majority of pre-orders for Samsung's foldable novelties originated from major Russian cities like Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, and Perm. While the Fold series is available in grey, pink, and blue, the Flip series boasts a wider palette of grey, blue, mint, and yellow. Both the Fold6 and Flip6 became available for purchase online and in retail stores on July 24th.
