New Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Rumored to be Twice as Energy Efficient as Dimensity 9300
While the official launch of Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor is still a few months away, exciting new details about the chip continue to surface. The latest leak suggests its graphics subsystem will be incredibly power-efficient.
Expected to be manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is anticipated to offer significant power efficiency improvements compared to the 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Leaker @negativeonehero claims that the chip achieves a multi-core Geekbench score of around 7300 points with a power consumption of only 8W. This performance level is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which requires approximately 17W to achieve similar results.
Interestingly, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 reportedly delivers graphics performance on par with MediaTek's Dimensity 9300 while consuming half the power. This feat represents a remarkable achievement in energy efficiency.
However, @negativeonehero notes that the central processing unit's energy efficiency in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is not quite as impressive. Those prioritizing this aspect when purchasing a new device might want to wait for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, advises the leaker.
