Steam might soon let you play mobile games directly on your PC
Mobile gaming has exploded in popularity in recent years, but some gamers still prefer a more traditional experience. Now, leaks suggest that Valve is working on a solution that could bridge the gap: a fully functional Android emulator integrated directly into Steam.
The folks over at SteamDB have unearthed files that strongly indicate Valve is indeed developing this emulator, based on the open-source project Waydroid. Data miner Brad Lynch added fuel to the fire, pointing out that several Valve developers have been actively submitting bug fix requests for the emulator on GitHub.
This all points towards a future where you might be able to fire up your favorite mobile games directly on your PC or Steam Deck, all within the familiar confines of the Steam client.
New Steam Feature: Record and Edit Your Gameplay
While we wait for the official word on the emulator, Valve hasn't been idle. In late June, the digital storefront introduced a new feature that allows users to record and edit gameplay footage directly within Steam. This beta feature lets you create and tweak clips, then share your gaming highlights with friends or the world.
