Tiny11 Dev Gets Windows 11 Running on iPhone, But It's Slow
NTDev, the developer known for creating Tiny11 (a stripped-down version of Windows 11), has achieved a new feat: running Windows 11 on an iPhone 15 Pro. While this might sound impressive, the performance leaves much to be desired.
Here's the gist:
- Slow boot and performance: It takes a whopping 20 minutes for Windows 11 to boot on the iPhone 15 Pro, and even simple tasks are sluggish.
- Virtualization, not native: Windows 11 isn't running natively on the iPhone. Instead, it runs within UTM SE, a virtualization app that can be sideloaded onto Apple devices.
- Stripped down OS: To make it work, NTDev used a barebones version of Windows 11 with an ISO size under 3GB.
This isn't the first time Windows has been seen on mobile devices. Emulators like Winlator already allow users to run Windows games and apps on phones. However, this is a significant achievement as it's the first instance of Windows 11 running on an iPhone.
Behold, probably the very first instance of Windows 11 (in form of tiny11 core) on UTM SE.

It is TERRIBLY slow, booting in about 20 minutes, but nonetheless, it's still Windows 11 on an iPhone 15 Pro! pic.twitter.com/Iyr5Txy8uh
While the current state of this project isn't exactly practical for everyday use, it's a fascinating look at what's possible with enough technical know-how. It highlights the dedication of developers who constantly push the boundaries of technology.
