Ubisoft CEO Confirms Remakes of Older Assassin's Creed Games Are Coming
Remakes and remasters, remasters and remakes—the gaming industry sure loves to revisit its past hits. Now, Ubisoft is looking to remind players of the greatness of early Assassin's Creed games.
In a recent interview, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot outlined the company's plans, promising innovations (Assassin's Creed Shadows will feature a weather system that even freezes some bodies of water!) while carefully sidestepping the topic of The Crew (he simply noted that service-based games can be successful, citing XDefiant as an example).
However, the press was most intrigued by the information regarding remakes of older Assassin's Creed games. While Guillemot didn't specify which titles are being considered for the modern treatment, he promised that Ubisoft aims to revitalize these classics:
"Players can expect several remakes that will allow our company to return to previously created games and modernize them. The worlds of some Assassin's Creed titles are still very rich [in content and narrative]."
According to insider sources, Ubisoft is reportedly working on updated versions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and another older installment in the sci-fi saga. Unfortunately, it's still too early to speculate about release dates for these projects.
