AMD Ryzen 5 9600X Sets New Overclocking Record for Zen 5 CPUs
Overclocker Alva Jonathan from Indonesia wasted no time pushing the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X to its limits. On the very first day of the CPU's release, Jonathan achieved a new overclocking record, surpassing all other known results for processors based on the Zen 5 architecture. However, this feat was accomplished using a non-standard cooling system.
During the experiment, the overclocker managed to reach an impressive 6.999 GHz across all six cores of the CPU. To put this into perspective, AMD's own "record" for the Ryzen 5 9600X peaked at a more modest 6.6 GHz.
Jonathan's test platform included an MSI MEG X670E ACE motherboard, two 16GB DDR5 memory modules, and a liquid nitrogen pot for cooling. Following the overclocking session, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X emerged as the absolute leader in both Cinebench 2024 and Y-Cruncher PI-BBP-10B benchmarks.
