Insider Leak: New Mac mini Rumored to Get a Major Redesign and Ultra-Compact Form Factor
The rumor mill is churning with fresh information about the upcoming Apple M4 Mac mini. Industry insiders are claiming that the device will be the most compact computer in Apple's history, boasting a completely redesigned exterior for the first time in years.
Rumors suggest that the M4-powered Mac mini will be roughly the size of the Apple TV, with a slightly taller profile to accommodate an active cooling system. The mini-PC's chassis is said to be crafted from aluminum for increased durability. While the insider report doesn't specify how Apple plans to achieve this smaller footprint, it's speculated that the company may ditch the Ethernet port in favor of Thunderbolt, which offers similar functionality with an adapter.
According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is embracing a new design philosophy centered around thin and light consumer devices, a trend already evident in the current iPad Pro. This design language is expected to carry over to future models of the MacBook Pro and iPhone.
