HTC U24 Pro: Durability Test Highlights 3.5mm Jack and Mixed Results
The HTC U24 Pro is making a splash as one of the few 2024 5G Android phones offering both a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot. However, a recent JerryRigEverything video reveals a mixed bag of results when it comes to design, durability, and features.
While HTC aims for "Unique Brilliance" with its angular design, the video's host, Zach Nelson, found the edges no more comfortable than the flat edges found on competing phones. The 50MP selfie camera, touted as unique, is actually found on devices from other brands like Vivo and Infinix.
On the plus side, the U24 Pro's aluminum frame passed the bend test with flying colors, and its plastic rear panel seems teardown-friendly. The phone also boasts wireless charging, an IP67 rating, and those sought-after features: a headphone jack and expandable storage.
However, some specs feel underwhelming. The 4,600mAh battery and 6.8-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display are standard fare. The fingerprint scanner's unreliability in the video raises concerns about its performance in outdoor conditions.
Priced at €564 (~$616), the U24 Pro presents a mixed bag. While it checks some boxes with its durability, classic features, and unique design elements, certain aspects might leave potential buyers wanting more for the price.
