iPhone 17 Slim: A Pricey, Ultra-Thin Design Statement, But Without Pro Features?
Analyst Mark Gurman has shed some light on a potential new addition to Apple's iPhone lineup – the "Slim." This model could become the most expensive iPhone in history, but ironically, might not pack the most powerful punch.
Gurman believes the iPhone 17 Slim would sit comfortably between the base iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, similar to the iPad Air or MacBook Air positioning. It would be ultra-thin and expensive, but wouldn't quite match the "Pro" model in terms of raw performance. He also suggests it might boast "the biggest redesign since the iPhone X," an Apple A19 processor, a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, and a single rear camera.
This approach, as Gurman puts it, targets a specific customer:
"If you want something more luxurious than the standard iPhone, but don’t really need the performance, screen size or cameras of the Pro model, you could buy something that looks much nicer while still having the capabilities of a regular iPhone."
The iPhone 17 Slim might emerge as a standalone model or potentially replace the "Plus" variant. Gurman predicts the Slim will prove more popular than the iPhone 12/13 mini and iPhone 14/15/16 Plus. We might see it unveiled in 2025 as part of the iPhone 17 lineup, with a potential follow-up in 2027, offering a smaller alternative to the "Pro" model but with comparable features.
