MediaTek has expanded its mobile platform lineup with the new Helio G100, a system-on-a-chip (SoC) designed specifically for budget-friendly smartphones. The highlight of this new processor is its support for cameras with high-resolution sensors. Following the announcement, the company released the full technical specifications of the chip.
The MediaTek Helio G100 boasts an octa-core CPU featuring two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. The processor supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
Furthermore, the Helio G100 is compatible with displays with resolutions up to 2520x1080 pixels and can handle cameras with a whopping 200-megapixel resolution, capable of recording video at 30 frames per second. Additional features include VoLTE support and "Elevator Mode," which allows for rapid reconnection to mobile networks after leaving an area without coverage.
The first smartphone to utilize the Helio G100 is the TECNO Camon 30S Pro. More devices powered by this new chipset are expected to hit the market soon.
