Sony's Plan All Along? Company Claims PSVR2 Was Always Meant for PC
Sony continues to expand its presence in the PC market. Case in point: the upcoming release of an adapter that will allow for easy connection of PlayStation VR2 to PCs. As it turns out, this was no afterthought – the company had been considering such a device from the very beginning.
According to the AV Watch portal, Sony Interactive Entertainment always planned to enable compatibility between PSVR2 and PCs. The corporation "recognized the importance of having such a feature," which is why engineers began working on its implementation during the headset's development phase. Production of the adapter was accelerated after the release of PSVR2.
As a reminder, the PC adapter for PlayStation VR2 was announced on February 22nd, taking many console fans by surprise. The device is set to launch on August 7th with a price tag of $60. This move comes at a time when the VR headset itself hasn't been a major commercial success, with significant discounts already being offered in Europe.
