Qualcomm: Snapdragon X Laptops to Become More Affordable by 2025
Qualcomm representatives have announced that laptops powered by the latest Snapdragon X chips will become significantly more affordable in 2025, with prices expected to drop to $700. Currently, the most affordable model in this segment, the Microsoft Surface, retails for $999.
Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon stated that this price reduction will be possible due to the integration of Snapdragon X chips into more budget-friendly laptop models, which will also allow the company to reach a wider market. Some online sources speculate that the chips could also find their way into compact desktop PCs, such as developer kits.
The manufacturer has not yet disclosed sales figures for the first wave of laptops featuring the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, stating that it is too early to comment. However, Amon did mention that more new PCs powered by Qualcomm chips will be unveiled at the IFA trade show, which kicks off in early September.
Finally, Qualcomm is gearing up to unveil a new mobile platform at the Snapdragon Summit. This platform will be part of the flagship Snapdragon 8 series and is expected to debut in smartphones by late this year or early next year.
