SEGA Drops a Yakuza-Sized Hint with New Trademark
It seems publishers love surprises – until third-party services and websites spoil them, of course. SEGA recently promised an unexpected announcement regarding the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, but the project's potential title may have already been leaked.
Eagle-eyed internet users discovered that the Japanese company has trademarked the name "Yakuza Wars." Fans are now buzzing with speculation. After all, the series shed its localized "Yakuza" title for "Like a Dragon" just a couple of years ago. This new development could point to a crossover with SEGA's beloved Sakura Wars franchise. Alternatively, it might indicate a Western release for Ryu Ga Gotoku Online, especially considering the trademark filing's mention of mobile games.
The next chapter in the lives of Japan's most lovable gangsters (and their associates) will be revealed during the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, scheduled for September 26th-29th.
