New details about the upcoming AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor have emerged online, offering a glimpse into the capabilities of this next-generation APU. While AMD has confirmed that the CPU is in development, its release is not expected until next year.
A leaked document mentions the APU under the codename Z2X, revealing an 8-core processor with a TDP of up to 28W and compatibility with the FP8 socket. The CPU utilizes a 64-bit memory bus, suggesting that it is based on either the Zen 4 (like those found in Ryzen 7000 CPUs for desktops) or Zen 5 architecture. The integrated graphics are rumored to feature 16 RDNA 3.5 compute units, potentially powerful enough for 1080p gaming.
