Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 6 Gen 3: Powering Affordable Devices with Flagship Features
Qualcomm has expanded its mobile processor lineup with the introduction of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Designed for budget-friendly smartphones and tablets, this new chipset punches above its weight class by supporting high-resolution cameras, AI capabilities, and offering a significant performance boost over its predecessor.
Built on a 4nm process, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 features four performance-oriented Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz. Handling the graphics is the integrated Adreno 710 GPU. The chip supports LPDDR5-3200 memory modules and UFS 3.1 storage. Qualcomm claims a 10% increase in CPU performance and a substantial 30% boost in GPU performance compared to the previous generation.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the integrated 12-bit Qualcomm Spectra ISP, enabling support for a whopping 200MP main camera. The chipset also boasts Multi-frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) technology and an AI-powered noise reduction engine (AIDE) for enhanced image quality. Furthermore, users can capture stunning slow-motion videos at 720p resolution and a buttery-smooth 240fps.
Rounding out the feature set is a 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 with support for aptX and aptX Lossless audio. Additionally, the chipset supports Full HD+ displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz, dual-frequency GPS, and Quick Charge 4+ technology. Qualcomm hasn't revealed which smartphones will be the first to feature this exciting new processor.
