Windows 11 Gains Momentum, Analysts Say
According to a new report from analytics firm Statcounter, Windows 11 continued its upward trajectory in August 2024, capturing nearly a third of the desktop operating system market.
While Windows 10 remains the dominant force with a 64.14% market share (a slight dip of 0.08% compared to July), Windows 11 is steadily closing the gap, now accounting for 31.63% of installations (a gain of 0.8%). Trailing far behind in third place is Windows 7, with a much smaller share of 3.05% (up by 0.10%). Windows 8.1 and Windows XP round out the top five with 0.41% (down 0.01%) and 0.4% (up 0.02%) respectively.
Analysts predict that Microsoft will continue to push Windows 11 aggressively, particularly with the end of support for Windows 10 looming in October 2025.
