The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 gaming laptop, with its Core Ultra 9 processor and RTX 4070 graphics, and understated design, has landed on our review bench. Let's find out what this machine is capable of.
Design and Features
The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 sports a brutalist design, characterized by sharp angles and a black metal chassis. The display lid flexes slightly under pressure, so it's recommended to carry the laptop with the base facing your back in a backpack. Ports are distributed along the sides: on the right, you'll find a Kensington lock, HDMI, two USB Type-A ports, and a microSD card reader; on the left, there are two USB Type-C ports, a combo audio jack, and a dedicated microphone jack.
The laptop features a full-size keyboard without a Numpad, despite having enough space for one. The keys are soft and relatively quiet, with a short travel distance of about 1.5 mm. Dedicated media keys and a hotkey to launch PredatorSense software are also present. A dedicated key allows for quick switching between power modes.
The touchpad is generously sized and incorporates a fingerprint reader. Cursor movement is precise, and it supports all standard Windows multi-touch gestures.

Performance
In benchmarks, performance is on par with competitors equipped with the RTX 4070 and a 100W TGP. However, in gaming, the GPU struggles to maintain consistent frame rates at native resolution. In Cyberpunk 2077 at maximum settings without ray tracing, the laptop achieves 47 fps at 3200x2000 and 70 fps at 2560x1600. The cooling system consists of two heat pipes and two metal fans. Fan noise is noticeable in Turbo mode, while Performance mode is quieter but reduces performance by about 15%.

Battery Life
The 76Wh battery provides decent battery life, aided by the MUX switch. In office use, the laptop discharges at a rate of 11% per hour, and while watching YouTube, it drains at 14% per hour.
Conclusion
The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 is a well-balanced laptop suitable for both gaming and graphics work. Its strengths include powerful hardware, a compact and lightweight design, a high-quality display, and decent battery life. The audio and standard keyboard are its main drawbacks.
