AMD's upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D has been spotted online, hinting at a potential launch soon. The 16-core CPU was benchmarked on FactorioBox, showing a double-digit performance improvement over the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
X leaker @Olrak29_ discovered the benchmark, where the 9950X3D was tested with 256 GB of DDR5-6000 RAM, the maximum supported by the consumer Zen 5 platform. The benchmark revealed a 16% performance increase over the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
While the 16-core configuration was already known, this sighting confirms the CPU's existence and suggests it's nearing release.
AMD's new reversed packaging technology for X3D CPUs allows for a cache die on every CCD. This opens up the possibility of a Ryzen 9 9950X3D with a massive 192 MB of L3 cache. Such a configuration, while likely expensive, would be a powerful option, especially when paired with a high-end GPU like the RTX 5090.
