AMD's next-generation Threadripper CPUs, codenamed "Shimada Peak" and based on the Zen 5 architecture, have been spotted in shipping manifests at NBD.ltd. The leak reveals both a flagship 96-core variant and a new entry-level 16-core option.
Leaked Configurations
The leaked information suggests two Threadripper 9000 series CPUs:
- 96-Core/192-Thread: Featuring 12 CCDs, each with 32MB of L3 cache, totaling 384MB.
- 16-Core/32-Thread: Featuring 2 CCDs with an unspecified amount of L3 Cache (likely 64MB total).
The 96-core variant appears to share similar specifications with the Threadripper PRO 7995WX, including a 350W TDP and 128 PCIe lanes. The key difference lies in the newer Zen 5 architecture and the use of a 4nm process node.
Expected Lineup and Release
While only the 16-core and 96-core variants have been leaked so far, it's expected that AMD will release a full range of Threadripper 9000 series CPUs, likely including 24-core, 32-core, and 64-core options.
Both the Threadripper 9000 and Threadripper PRO 9000 series are expected to launch in 2025, using the TRX50 and WRX90 chipsets, respectively. An exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
