Apple AirPods Max with USB-C to Remain Unchanged for Now

Apple reportedly has no plans for a major AirPods Max update, despite the recent USB-C refresh. The current model is expected to remain in the lineup.

Despite the recent release of AirPods Max with a USB-C charging port, Apple reportedly has "no concrete plans" for any significant updates to its premium wireless headphones. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the current AirPods Max are expected to remain in Apple's lineup for at least a couple of years.

Gurman suggests that the high price and subsequently lower sales of the AirPods Max have discouraged Apple from investing in a new model. He speculates that a future update might be considered once sales targets are met.

While the switch to USB-C is welcome, the AirPods Max still use the older H1 chip, unlike the newer H2 chip found in the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. The H2 chip offers improved Active Noise Cancellation and Adaptive Transparency.

For those interested in the AirPods Max, both the Lightning and USB-C versions are currently discounted on Amazon. Alternatively, the AirPods Pro 2 with the H2 chip and a USB-C charging case are also available at a discounted price.
