The M4 Max achieved an average score of 5,208 in Blender Open Data across 28 tests, placing it just below the RTX 4080. This is a strong showing for Apple's integrated GPU, especially considering its significantly smaller size compared to dedicated desktop GPUs.
However, the M4 Max lags behind the RTX 4090 in laptops, which scored an average of 6,863, making the M4 Max roughly 30% slower in this comparison. The desktop RTX 4090 leads with a score of 10,880.
Efficiency vs. Raw Power
It's important to consider power consumption. The M4 Max uses significantly less power than NVIDIA's offerings, making it highly efficient. While not the absolute fastest, it offers a compelling balance of performance and power efficiency.
