Assassin's Creed Shadows Stealth Gameplay Detailed by Ubisoft

Ubisoft has released a stealth gameplay overview for Assassin's Creed Shadows, highlighting Naoe's abilities and tools.

As the February 14, 2025 release date approaches, Ubisoft has revealed details about the stealth gameplay in Assassin's Creed Shadows. The game was originally scheduled for November 15, 2024, but was delayed to allow for further polishing.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Stealth Gameplay Detailed by Ubisoft

The stealth overview primarily focuses on Naoe, one of the game's two protagonists. A core feature is the "Observe" mechanic, allowing players to identify, tag, and monitor enemies. Associate Game Director Simon Lemay-Comtois emphasizes its importance:

The new Observer mechanic is at the core of the Assassin's Creed Shadows experience. When in doubt, take a pause, observe the world around you, and only then should you decide what your next move should be.

Naoe's Stealth Tools

Naoe has access to four tools to enhance her stealth capabilities:

  • Smoke Bombs
  • Shinobi Bells (to create distractions)
  • Kunai (for silent kills)
  • Shuriken (for stunning or distracting enemies)

Naoe's small stature also allows her to squeeze through tight spaces and hide in boxes to gain an advantage.

Naoe is our smallest Assassin to date. And she uses that to her advantage: she can squeeze through tiny wall cracks, and she can hide inside small storage spaces and boxes in order to get the drop on her enemies.

While stealth is primarily Naoe's domain, Yasuke also has some stealth options. The game features a progression system that allows players to specialize their skills and abilities in stealth or other areas.
