Rumors are circulating that Turtle Rock Studios is developing Back 4 Blood 2. This speculation stems from a project titled "Gobi 2" listed on the resume of actor Jesse Hutch, who performed motion capture for Gears of War 4. "Gobi" was the codename for the original Back 4 Blood, reportedly named after the studio's late bearded dragon mascot. A website domain for Back 4 Blood 2 was also registered last year.
Turtle Rock announced its shift away from the first Back 4 Blood in February 2023. Despite post-launch support lasting just over a year, the game apparently met Warner Bros. Games' sales targets, making a sequel highly probable.
Back 4 Blood, a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, launched on October 12, 2021. Wccftech awarded the game an 8/10, summarizing it as:
Back 4 Blood isn't Left 4 Dead...The excellent map and mission design, the huge variety of builds made possible by the card system, and satisfying gameplay make the game...the one to get for those who have a team of friends...but those who are looking to play the game solo would do better to look elsewhere.
