Borderlands 4 Developers to Show Game to Terminally Ill Fan
Gearbox Software will be granting a terminally ill Borderlands fan his wish to play an early build of Borderlands 4. 37-year-old Caleb McElpine, diagnosed with stage four cancer, reached out to the studio after learning he may not live to see the game's release. Fearing he wouldn't survive until the 2025 release, McElpine wrote to Gearbox, requesting a chance to play an early version. Fellow gamers rallied behind him, amplifying his request to the developers. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford responded to the plea and will be giving McElpine a special preview. In November, McElpine will visit Gearbox's Texas office for a tour and a chance to experience Borderlands 4. The game is scheduled for a 2025 release on PC and current-gen consoles, but the exact date remains unknown.
