The report indicates that Disney is considering three internal and three external candidates. Wilson, who has led EA since 2013, is among the external contenders. He's credited with transforming EA Sports FIFA into one of the most successful video game franchises ever.

The Wall Street Journal notes Wilson has had close ties with Disney in recent years and even explored the possibility of selling EA to the entertainment giant. Furthermore, EA currently develops several game franchises under Disney licenses, including Star Wars Jedi and various superhero projects.
