A new analysis by Digital Foundry reveals that Gran Turismo 7 's implementation of the PlayStation 5 Pro's PSSR upscaler is among the best seen so far, particularly for 8K upscaling, despite some minor issues at lower resolutions. The PS5 Pro patch for Gran Turismo 7 introduces several enhancements, including full ray tracing support for races and replays, PSSR implementation, an 8K mode, and PSVR 2 improvements. Interestingly, PSSR is required for cockpit view ray tracing, likely due to performance demands. In other scenarios, players can choose between PSSR and TAA, with or without ray tracing. While PSSR reconstructs a good 4K image from resolutions as low as 1080p, it introduces some shimmering and noise on thin objects. In some cases, visual artifacts, such as noisy tail lights with ray tracing, can be distracting. TAA avoids these issues, offering slightly better overall image quality in these instances. However, PSSR shines in Gran Turismo 7 's 8K mode, where it upscales…
