Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater aims to modernize the gameplay of the classic stealth title without sacrificing what made the original unique, according to series producer Noriaki Okamura.
In an interview with Play magazine (reported by GamesRadar), Okamura stated that the goal of the remake is to retain the feel of the original while updating it for modern audiences. The improved visuals necessitated some gameplay adjustments, as certain original elements didn't translate well to the updated graphics.
The new control scheme is a key element of this modernization, offering a fresh way to experience the game while also allowing players to opt for a classic control style. Other gameplay changes were deliberately kept minimal to avoid disrupting the core Snake Eater experience.
Okamura emphasized the importance of nostalgia for long-time fans, aiming for the remake to evoke those feelings while still feeling contemporary.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. While initially slated for 2024, a release this year now seems unlikely. Stay tuned for further updates on the release date.
