Server problems plagued the launch, preventing many players from even downloading the game. The Steam version only provides a small installer, requiring players to download the remaining 50GB of game files within the game itself. The unprepared servers failed to handle the initial influx of players, leading to lengthy download times and preventing many from being able to request refunds.

Even after the servers were restored, players faced long queues and encountered bugs within the game's menus, including issues with icon display.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was released on November 19th for PC and Xbox. Its peak concurrent player count on Steam reached approximately 24,000.
