Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against streamer Jesse Keighin (EveryGameGuru) for allegedly leaking unreleased and pirated Nintendo Switch games. Separately, Pocketpair, the developers of Palworld, has shared details about their ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo.
Nintendo vs. EveryGameGuru
According to TorrentFreak, Nintendo accuses Keighin of repeatedly streaming unreleased and pirated games on various platforms, including YouTube, Discord, Twitch, and others. The lawsuit states:
"Defendant is a recidivist pirate who has obtained and streamed Nintendo’s leaked games on multiple occasions."
Nintendo claims to have issued multiple DMCA notices, but Keighin continued streaming unauthorized gameplay, including using emulators to play pirated copies of unreleased titles like Mario & Luigi Brothership, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Super Mario RPG. Nintendo also alleges that Keighin shared links to pirated games with his viewers. They are seeking $150,000 in damages.
Palworld Lawsuit Update
Pocketpair revealed that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are seeking ¥5 million (approximately $32,846 USD) in compensation for damages related to the Palworld lawsuit. The timing of the lawsuit, after Palworld's release, has raised questions, with some speculating it was prompted by the game's success.
