NVIDIA RTX 5090's GB202 GPU: 22% Larger Than RTX 4090's AD102

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090's GB202 GPU is rumored to be significantly larger than the RTX 4090's AD102, measuring 744mm² and built on TSMC's 5nm process.

The upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, the flagship of the RTX 50 "Blackwell" series, is rumored to feature a significantly larger GPU die than its predecessor. According to leaks, the GB202 GPU will measure 744mm², a 22% increase over the RTX 4090's 609mm² AD102 die.

GB202 GPU Size and Specifications

According to MEGAsizeGPU, the GB202 GPU will be approximately 24x31mm (744mm²) with a package size of 63x65mm (4095mm²). This represents a substantial increase in both die and package size compared to the RTX 4090 (609mm² die, 2601mm² package).

While a larger die doesn't necessarily mean higher power consumption or temperatures, it's worth noting that the GB202 is still smaller than the 754mm² Turing TU102 GPU.

RTX 5090 Expected Specifications

Based on current rumors, the RTX 5090 is expected to feature the following specifications:

GPU GB202-300-A1
Cores 21760 (170 SMs enabled out of 192)
Memory 32GB GDDR7, 512-bit bus, 28 Gbps
Bandwidth Up to 1792 GB/s
TBP 600W

Release Date

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 is expected to launch at CES 2025.
