Leaked specifications for the OnePlus Ace 5, expected to launch globally as the OnePlus 13R, reveal a mixed bag of upgrades. While the battery gets a boost, the camera setup appears to remain unchanged from its predecessor.
According to a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station, the Ace 5 will feature a 6.78-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO display and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a notable upgrade from the Ace 3's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The device is also rumored to pack 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, though other configurations are likely.
Camera Disappointment
The leaked camera specifications are less impressive. The Ace 5 is said to have a 16MP front-facing camera and a triple rear camera system with a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP sensor. This is identical to the Ace 3/12R's camera configuration, a setup that was criticized for its underwhelming 2MP sensor.
Battery and Software
On the positive side, the Ace 5 will reportedly feature a larger battery, at least 6,000 mAh, with 100W fast wired charging support. The device is expected to launch with ColorOS 15 (based on Android 15) in China and OxygenOS 15 (also based on Android 15) globally.
Release Date
ITHome suggests a December announcement for the OnePlus Ace 5 in China. The global OnePlus 13R variant might launch alongside the international version of the OnePlus 13.
