The popular PSP emulator, PPSSPP, has received a significant update to version 1.18. This update focuses on enhanced performance, UI improvements, and bug fixes.

Performance Enhancements

Version 1.18 incorporates numerous iOS-specific optimizations for better in-game performance. Additionally, it addresses various rendering issues across multiple platforms, resulting in smoother gameplay. A new "sharp bilinear" post-processing filter provides fast and efficient upscaling.

UI Improvements

The update also brings several UI enhancements, including:

  • More button-mappable actions (e.g., Reset)
  • Three new themes
  • Numerous UI bug fixes
  • Ability to load save files from ZIP archives

Bug Fixes and Availability

An initial bug in 1.18 causing crashes with homebrew apps and demos has been addressed in version 1.18.1. The update may take a few days to appear on the Google Play Store and App Store, but you can download the latest version directly from the official PPSSPP website.
