Despite pioneering the foldable smartphone market, Samsung might have missed the mark on releasing the first tri-fold device. However, a new report suggests the company is now focusing on perfecting the tri-fold design rather than rushing to market.
Huawei currently holds the title with its Mate XT, a tri-fold device that transforms from a 10.2-inch tablet to a 6.4-inch smartphone. While currently exclusive to China, the Mate XT is expected to launch internationally in Q1 2025.
According to ETNews, Samsung is taking a different approach compared to the initial Galaxy Fold launch. Instead of releasing a first-generation product with potential shortcomings, Samsung is aiming to deliver the "best" tri-fold smartphone, focusing on refining the design and functionality before its release.
There's no official timeline for Samsung's tri-fold launch. In the meantime, the company recently released the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
