Samsung Patents Stretchable Tablet with Expandable Display Technology

Samsung has filed a patent for a stretchable tablet, potentially allowing users to expand the display size.

A new patent application filed by Samsung with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) reveals a stretchable tablet concept, allowing for an expandable display.

While the patent application lacks a detailed explanation of the stretching mechanism, the illustrations suggest how the device might function. Special inserts on the left and right sides of the tablet appear to allow users to pull and expand the display. The images also show a magnetic stylus attached to the top edge and a dual-camera setup on the back.

This isn't Samsung's first foray into stretchable displays. In 2022, the company demonstrated a prototype that could expand from 13 to 17 inches. Later that year, Samsung also patented a similar device stretchable from both sides.
