A new video demonstrates the gaming capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, showing it running Cyberpunk 2077 at a stable 60FPS. This achievement highlights the potential for AAA gaming on mobile devices, even if it requires some compromises.
Shared by @cozy_OSS, the gameplay video reveals Cyberpunk 2077 running smoothly at 60FPS on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The footage showcases a combat sequence, typically more demanding on hardware, without any noticeable frame drops. This impressive performance aligns with previous benchmarks showing the Snapdragon 8 Elite outperforming the AMD Radeon 780M in certain tests.
However, this performance was achieved using a 720p (1280 x 720) resolution and low graphical settings. While the lower resolution might seem like a drawback, the smaller screen size of smartphones minimizes the visual impact of the reduced detail.
Cyberpunk 2077 was run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite using GameFusion emulation software, the same program used to demonstrate the chipset running A Plague Tale: Innocence at more than double the framerate of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The footage confirms that ray tracing was disabled. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enabling such features typically results in a significant performance hit.
