A new report from Canalys reveals disappointing sales figures for laptops powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X processors. Since their release in Q1 2024, these devices have failed to capture a significant market share.
According to the report, fewer than 720,000 Snapdragon X laptops have been sold globally (representing approximately 0.008% of total PC shipments during the same period). Within the Windows on ARM segment, their market share is less than 1.5%.
In contrast, AI-enabled PCs have seen increased popularity, with shipments reaching 13.3 million units in Q3 2024 (20% of all PC shipments). However, this includes both laptops and desktops across all processor brands. Interestingly, the report also reveals that 31% of vendors do not plan to sell PCs with Copilot+ features in 2025, and 34% expect these devices to account for less than 10% of their total sales.
Manufacturers are still exploring strategies for promoting AI-powered PCs. HP is emphasizing partnerships with independent software vendors to enhance AI capabilities, while Lenovo is investing in its own AI tools.
