YouTuber ETA Prime has revealed an unannounced x86 single-board computer (SBC) called the Next SBC, featuring the Ryzen 7 7840HS with Radeon 780M iGPU. Early gaming tests show promising performance.
While mini PCs with Zen 4 APUs already exist, the Next SBC stands out with its Ryzen 7 7840HS, a high-end APU from the Phoenix Point lineup. Initially planned to use the 8840U, the company likely opted for the 7840HS to maintain a lower price point. The 7840HS is a strong choice due to its configurable TDP and powerful Radeon 780M RDNA 3 iGPU.
Gaming Performance
ETA Prime's gaming tests, conducted at 1080p resolution with a 54W TDP in performance mode, revealed impressive results:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (Medium): 80-100 FPS
- Doom Eternal (Medium): Average 79 FPS
- Starfield (900p, Low, FSR, Frame Generation): Around 70 FPS
Other tested games, including Overwatch 2, Fallout 4, and Spider-Man Remastered, also achieved playable frame rates.
